Ski the Big 3

They say that spring is on the way, but the snow is still falling in the spectacular Canadian Rockies. What better time to hit the slopes? Windtower Lodge & Suites and Canmore are less than an hour from several of Canada’s premier ski destinations and we want to make sure you have every opportunity to experience them. Lake Louise Ski Resort, Sunshine Village and Mt. Norquay are three of the most popular ski resorts in the area. Often referred to as “The Big 3,” each resort offers a unique experience in the heart of the Rockies.

Lake Louise Ski Resort is the largest ski resort in the Canadian Rockies, covering an area of 4,200 acres. Featuring 10 lifts, 145 runs and soaring to and elevation of 8,650 feet, Lake Louise is a must for any skier or snowboarder visiting Alberta. While you are there make sure you swing by the world famous Lake Louise for breathtaking scenery and iconic photo opportunities.

Sunshine Village boasts the highest top elevation of The Big 3, towering to an incredible 8,954 feet. The resort features 12 lifts and 107 named runs which produce 3,358 acres of skiable terrain. Located approximately 27km from Canmore and mere minutes from Banff, Sunshine Village’s central location makes it very popular to both visitors and locals alike.

Mt. Norquay is the nearest ski resort to both Canmore and Banff. This accessibility makes it one of the most popular resorts in the area. Mt. Norquay features 5 lifts and 38 runs and reaches to an elevation of 8,040 feet. Though it is the smallest of The Big 3, don’t let this deter you. Mt. Norquay boasts some of the most awe inspiring views of the area, including Mt. Rundle, downtown Banff and the Bow Valley as a whole.
