Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, we are situated in Canmore, which is considered Canada’s mountain playground. We offer a wide variety of adventure and leisure pursuits. The Wandering Elk is also open for lunch and dinner, and features a variety of local Canadian fare to suit every palate! Enjoy our patio with a fabulous view of the Three Sisters, Ha Ling Peak, and the Rundle Range.

Events and Festivals for May/June 2013

With Spring already here, we have a few exciting events and festivals upcoming:

May 10 - Golf Season Tees Off
Stewart Creek Golf will tee off the season on May 10th. The driving range will open for business on Friday, May 3rd and the course and clubhouse will open on Friday, May 10th. Windtower is currently offering a Stay & Play Package with Stewart Creek Golf. The package is available May 31st to September 27th, 2013 for both single and double occupancy.

May 11-12 – Rocky Mountain Women’s Run
The Rocky Mountain Soap Company Women’s Run & Walk is for women of all ages and fitness levels. Women will have the option of three different events to participate in, including a 5km Run/Walk/Stroller Jog, a 10km Run/Walk and a Mountain Half Marathon.

Swag bags worth $50 and more containing Rocky Mountain Soap Company products will be given to participants, as well as a commemorative t-shirt. For more information, visit

May 11-12 – Canmore Trade Fair
The second annual Canmore Trade Fair will invite over 120 local and regional businesses to showcase their products. The trade fair will include quirky contests reminiscent of a country fair that are guaranteed to leave an impression. Contests such as pie eating, fastest texting, and baby racing will take place. Other pre-registration contests include quilting, egg decorating, lego building, and bling a shoe or boot to name a few. 

The trade fair will take place at the Canmore Recreation Centre and is open to the public from 10 am -6pm on Saturday and 10am – 5pm on Sunday. For more information, visit

May 24 – The Polaris Music Prize Salon
As the Polaris Prize continues to become one of the most important music awards in Canada, given annually to the Canadian artist who makes the album of the year, you can peek behind the curtain at the decision-making process. Being held in Banff for the first time, this Polaris Music Prize Salon will feature live panel discussions with local jury members.

Opening June 8 – Sheila Kernan: Memories & Impressions
Starting on June 8, the Canada House Gallery will be hosting an exhibition of painter Sheila Kernan’s work. The young artist’s vibrant work has been shown at galleries all over the country and Banff is happy to be showing it once more.

UFC Fight Nights
